About Us
Franklin Community Schools
Student-Centered. Innovative.
Our school district is located 20 miles south of Indianapolis and 90 miles north of Louisville, Kentucky on Interstate 65 and U.S. 31. Our schools are located in the three middle townships of Johnson County.
A popular suburban community and county seat, Franklin has experienced a population growth of 8.9 % since 2000. As expected, Franklin Community Schools has experienced growth as well. We have added more than 1,000 students since 2000 and today serve nearly 5,000 in grades K through 12.
Our commitment to creating a rich culture anchored to individual student growth, transformative experiences and world-class instruction is unmatched.
Curricular and extracurricular opportunities allow students to explore possibilities like farm-to-table experiences with the Ag Department, Harvard Model Congress, eSports, cybersecurity and Project Lead the Way. Through our physical education programming, students at Franklin can bike down Grizzly Cub Drive.
Students have opportunities to explore STEM, the arts, work-based learning and service learning. Students can travel abroad to France, Switzerland, Germany and our sister city, Kuji, Japan.
Our students compete at any level and attend colleges, universities and military academies across the nation. FCS help students engage as domestic and global citizens as they venture to their next adventure, whether that be the military, technical school, professional school, college, the workforce or an unexpected opportunity. Franklin graduates are ready for anything.
