Rita Holman l Franklin Community Schools Corporation

Welcome to Franklin Community Middle School! As the principal, it is an honor and a privilege to welcome you to our school community.

With 24 years of experience in Franklin schools, I have had the pleasure of serving in various roles, from math teacher to assistant principal and, since 2018, the middle school principal. My journey in education has been deeply rooted in middle-level learners, and I am genuinely passionate about their growth and development.

At FCMS, we believe in fostering a positive middle school experience centered around three core principles: connection, character, and growth. These principles serve as the foundation for everything we do, guiding students to plug in, show they care, and value growth each day.

  • Connection (Plug In): Encouraging students to explore new opportunities such as sports, clubs, or the arts, fosters a sense of belonging and community. Participating in team activities and dress up days also help create lasting memories and build camaraderie among peers.
  • Character (Show You Care): We emphasize the importance of making good choices, showing kindness, and respecting oneself, others, and our school environment. These values form the bedrock of a respectful and supportive school culture.
  • Growth (Value Growth): Academic excellence is a priority at FCMS. We encourage students to work diligently, complete their assignments, and actively engage in their learning journey. Every achievement, no matter how small, contributes to their growth and development.

I encourage you to join us in fostering an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and challenged to reach their fullest potential. Together, we can ensure that FCMS remains a place where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Please feel free to reach out to me or our dedicated staff with any questions, concerns, or ideas you may have. Your partnership is invaluable to us, and I look forward to working closely with each of you to make this school year a resounding success.

Counseling Department

About

The school counseling program is a collaboration benefitting students, teachers, parents, administrators, and the community.  We strive to be an integral part of students’ daily educational experience, and we work to partner in student achievement. We believe that all students can achieve success at FCMS.

Mission Statement

The mission of FCMS counseling is to provide a comprehensive school counseling program that advances students’ knowledge and skills for academic, personal, social and career growth.

Counseling Services

Individual Counseling

School counselors implement individual counseling interventions designed to help students establish personal goals and develop future plans.  School counselors also work to meet students’ immediate counseling needs, usually caused by life events or situations and conditions in students’ lives.

Group Counseling

School counselors offer group counseling on topics ranging from anger management to academic success skills.

Classroom Guidance

School counselors implement a variety of classroom guidance lessons throughout the school year.  Lessons focus on academic planning, career exploration, and personal-social development.

Student Advocacy

School counselors advocate on behalf of all students.  School counselors are committed to making a difference between children, families, and the community.

Collaboration
School counselors collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, community members and community agencies to provide the most assistance to students.

Confidentiality

The rules of confidentiality for counselors are very different from those of teachers.  Confidentiality is important to maintain a trusting relationship with students.
