Franklin Community Schools is excited to announce that Shelbie Murphy has been named the first principal of Franklin Community Virtual School. The FCS Board of School Trustees approved the recommendation at the May 13 meeting.
Murphy has been a special education teacher at Franklin Community High School for the last seven years. Most recently, she led the development of the alternative education program and continues to oversee the program. Murphy received a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University, a master’s degree and administrative certification from Purdue University.
“I am very excited to begin this new journey with Franklin Schools to offer virtual learning options for students,” Shelbie Murphy said. “I love working with families to find creative solutions for their child's learning experience and can't wait to start this adventure with our community!”
“We want to continue to partner with parents to provide students the best education for their individual needs,” Dr. David Clendening, Superintendent, said. “I am confident that Shelbie’s innovative thinking and passion for helping students thrive will positively impact individual student growth in the virtual setting.”
