Franklin Community Schools is proud to announce the appointment of Ryan Wagner as Franklin Community High School’s principal. The recommendation was made at the February School Board meeting by Dr. Clendening, following Mr. Wagner’s successful tenure as interim principal.

Wagner began his tenure at FCHS as an associate principal before serving as an interim principal. This is Wagner’s 18th year in education, and 11th year as an administrator. In his second year at FCHS, he is known for putting students at the center of every decision, bringing an innovative mindset and creative problem-solving approach focused on supporting student growth, achievement, and success. His leadership was instrumental in bringing the Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG) program to FCHS, expanding students' opportunities to build career-readiness skills and prepare for life beyond high school.

“I am incredibly honored and humbled to be asked to serve as principal for the students, staff, and parents of FCHS,” Wagner said. “Though I'm not a native of Franklin, the town possesses an incredible amount of commonalities with my hometown of Yorkville, Illinois, that it feels just like home to me. In my short time since being hired last year as the associate principal, I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the students and celebrating all of their unique individual accomplishments. I am also grateful for the work that Mr. Steve Ahaus had accomplished at FCHS during his many years as principal, which has set a strong foundation for us to continue to build upon. I look forward to working with our stakeholders to continue FCHS’ march of progress to be the best that it can be for our students.”

Originally from the suburbs of Chicago, Wagner earned his Bachelor’s degree in History from the University of Illinois and his Master’s degree in School Administration from Purdue University.

Ryan and his wife are the proud parents of two children. He values being actively involved in both his school community and family life, bringing that same sense of commitment and care to his leadership at FCHS.

“Ryan’s vision for Franklin Community High School closely aligns with our district’s guiding principles and unwavering commitment to students,” Dr. David Clendening, Superintendent, said. “His knowledge, strong work ethic, and deep dedication to the high school community make him the perfect fit to lead FCHS forward. We are excited to see where his leadership will take our students and school in the years ahead.”

Wagner replaces Steve Ahaus’s transition to Chief Financial Officer.
