Franklin Community Schools is proud to recognize Jim Myrick as the 2026 Martha Baker & Helen Jewell Support Staff of the Year, while also celebrating an extraordinary milestone, his 50 years of dedicated service to the district.
For decades, Jim has been a consistent and caring presence for students and families, safely transporting them while building meaningful, lasting relationships along the way. As a bus driver in the transportation department, his role extends far beyond getting students from one place to another. Jim is known for the personal connections he forms with each child, taking the time to learn their names, understand their needs, and ensure every student feels safe, valued, and welcomed.
His steady and positive presence helps set the tone for students’ days. Each morning begins with a friendly greeting, and each afternoon ends with a kind farewell. These simple gestures have created a sense of belonging and consistency for generations of families.
“He notices the little things about his kids and makes certain their needs are met and, most importantly, that they are safe under his care,” Needham Principal Dylan Purlee said. “For 50 years, he has been the first to greet students with a ‘good morning’ and the last to wish them a ‘good afternoon’.”
Beyond his daily responsibilities, Jim’s commitment to the Franklin community stands out. Over the years, he has supported students and families in countless ways, leaving a lasting impression that extends far beyond his bus route. His dedication, reliability, and genuine care for others have made him a trusted and respected figure throughout the community.
Franklin Community Schools is honored to celebrate Jim Myrick, not only for this well-deserved recognition, but for five decades of service that have positively impacted so many lives.
