A Tradition of Service at CBIS

Our partnership with the Million Meal Movement began in November 2021, when COVID restrictions limited traditional field trips. Million Meals graciously brought the packing experience to Franklin, and a new CBIS tradition was born. Since then, our students have gathered every Tuesday before Thanksgiving to serve others in a meaningful, hands-on way.

Last year, our 5th graders packed an incredible 15,000 meals. With both 5th and 6th-grade students participating this year, we expect to surpass that milestone. Thanks to Million Meals’ ongoing fundraising efforts, schools like ours are able to host packing events at no cost.

As part of their generosity, the Million Meal Movement also leaves boxes of the macaroni and cheese that our students pack so they can go directly to our own Cub Pantry, supporting families right here in our community.

This year's event was extra special. Both 5th and 6th graders worked side-by-side to pack meals, joined by Indianapolis Colts running back Ameer Abdullah and wide receiver Josh Downs. Their presence brought excitement and inspiration to an already meaningful day.

What a privilege it is to serve our community together, and to continue a tradition that makes a real difference, one meal at a time.
