The Lady Cubs basketball team entered the Johnson County tournament looking to snap a two-game skid. In the opening round they played host to Greenwood, the team that knocked them out of last year’s tournament. The Lady Cubs got off to a fast start building a double digit lead in the second quarter. Greenwood would respond to take the lead during the final quarter. The Lady Cubs used strong free throw shooting down the stretch to distance themselves from the Woodmen and claim a 46-39 victory. Delanie Hill led the team in scoring with 19 points while Allison Barnard hit double digits on the glass with 12 rebounds.
In the semi-final game the Lady Cubs played against the Whiteland Warriors. After a back and forth first half saw the Warriors take a slim lead into the break, Franklin outscored the Warriors by nine in the third quarter to take control. The Warriors were never able to mount a comeback in the fourth and the Lady Cubs advanced to the County finals with a 44-37 victory. Makenna Bertsch led the scoring attack with 11 points.
